Workshop
- Introduction to ceramics: different types of clays and glazes, firing process, examples of different styles and ways of transforming clay into a ceramic piece.
- Demonstration on the potter's wheel: kneading and preparing the clay, centring and modulating shapes: cups, bowls.
- Each student has their own wheel to try out and practise on during the lesson.
- Choosing a glaze, which will be applied by us after the pieces have been finished and first fired.
- Everyone gets two pieces, which can be picked up or sent off once they are ready (approx. 2 or 3 weeks).
We work with local clays and high-temperature firing, which is ideal for use as utilitarian pieces. Drinking tea or coffee from a cup made with our own hands is a wonderful experience!
You don't need any ceramics experience to take part in the workshop.
Classes are held in small groups of up to 6 people.
All materials and firing are included. We have aprons, but it is recommended that you come with comfortable clothes that can stain (it's just clay, it comes off with a wash!) and a willingness to get your hands in the clay!
Classes must be confirmed according to the minimum number of enrolments. To cancel or reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance.
